Prescription treatment information
Lowmoor’s weight loss service can include Mounjaro or Wegovy where clinically appropriate. These are prescription-only medicines, not separate services. An assessment does not guarantee a prescription, and neither treatment is suitable for everyone.
Mounjaro
Prescription onlyTirzepatide · KwikPen
Mounjaro contains tirzepatide, which helps regulate appetite and feelings of fullness. It may be prescribed for weight management in eligible adults alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.
It is given as a once-weekly injection under the skin. Your prescriber decides whether it is suitable and explains the dose, how to use the pen and when to review treatment.
Possible side effects
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and constipation. Other risks and precautions are explained in the patient leaflet.
Wegovy
Prescription onlySemaglutide · FlexTouch
Wegovy contains semaglutide, which acts like the appetite-regulating hormone GLP-1. It helps people feel fuller and less hungry and is used alongside dietary changes and physical activity for weight management.
It is given as a once-weekly injection under the skin. A clinical assessment is needed to check eligibility, medical history and other medicines before a prescribing decision is made.
Possible side effects
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and constipation. Other risks and precautions are explained in the patient leaflet.
Manufacturer device images are illustrative. The prescribed strength, pen appearance and packaging may differ. Always follow the instructions supplied with your own medicine.
Assessment and ongoing review come first
Discuss your health conditions, current medicines, contraception, pregnancy plans and breastfeeding with your prescriber. These medicines should not be used during pregnancy or combined with one another.
Seek urgent medical help for severe, persistent abdominal pain, with or without vomiting, as this can be a sign of pancreatitis. Read the full patient leaflet for all warnings and side effects.
