Ear wax checked, and removed if suitable.
Ear wax protects your ears, but too much can block the ear canal. Book an ear assessment at Lowmoor Pharmacy. We check whether removal is suitable first, then remove wax if appropriate.

How it works
Choose your option
Pick single ear (£30) or both ears (£60) and a 30-minute slot.
Assessment and consent
We ask about your symptoms and ear history, check suitability, and ask for your consent.
Removal and aftercare
If removal is appropriate, we carry it out and explain aftercare.
Not every blocked-feeling ear is wax
Muffled hearing, fullness or ringing can have other causes. If wax is not the cause, or removal is not suitable, we will explain the next step.
About ear wax
Ear wax helps protect the ear canal. Most of the time it clears naturally, but too much can block the canal and cause reduced hearing or a feeling of fullness. It can also contribute to ringing in the ear.
These symptoms are not always caused by wax, which is why we assess first. Water irrigation is a common method of wax removal. The pharmacy confirms the suitable technique and any preparation after your assessment.
- Check with the pharmacy before using ear drops.
- Do not use drops if you have, or may have, a perforated eardrum or have had ear surgery.
- Removal is only carried out if it is suitable for you.
What the appointment covers
Assessment and consent
We ask about your symptoms and ear history, look at the ear, and talk through what is suggested before you agree.
Suitability first
Removal is offered only if it is appropriate. If not, we explain why and what to do next.
Aftercare
We give practical advice on caring for your ears afterwards and when to seek help.
